Distractions for your Hands and Mind
when Quitting Smoking

Quitting nicotine can be a difficult process, and it's common for people to experience withdrawal symptoms such as cravings, irritability, and difficulty concentrating.

 

Here are some strategies that may help you manage your cravings and stay on track with your quit attempt:

  1. Exercise

    Physical activity can help reduce cravings and improve your mood.
    What kind of physical activities are there? While the list is endless, here are just a few...

    Walking or Running
    Bicycling outdoors or on a stationary bike.
    Dancing
    Swimming
    Taking an exercise classes
    Gardening activities, or lawn maintenance work such as raking and pushing a lawn mower
    Sports, such as Tennis or Golfing (without a cart)
    Stretching
    Yoga
    Tai Chi or Qi Gong
    Pilates

     

  2. Practice Deep Breathing

    Taking slow, deep breaths can help you relax and calm your mind.

  3. Find a New Hobby

    Engaging in a new activity can help take your mind off of smoking and give you something

  4. Seek Support

    Support from friends and family, or from your Wellness Canada Practitioner, can be incredibly helpful when you're trying to quit smoking. 
     

  5. Get Enough Sleep

    Proper rest can help reduce cravings and improve your overall well-being.

  6. Eat a Healthy Diet

    Eating a healthy diet can help improve your mood and reduce cravings.
     

  7. Drink Plenty of Water

    Staying hydrated can help you feel more comfortable and reduce cravings. Drinking water can aid in the speed and strength at which the nicotine leaves your body.
     

Remember, it's important to be patient with yourself and to take things one day at a time.

Stay focused on your goal, why you are doing it and how as each day passes, you will feel better and better.
